Bio: I'm a novice fiction writer working on two novels, The God Stone and The Princess. It's a back and forth process of learning the craft of fiction and applying it to my stories, of discovering weaknesses in my stories and seeking the craft that will solve them. I opened this site to pass on the concepts I've learned to other writers who may also be struggling to raise the quality of their writing. In my previous lives I've earned two master's degrees, which I mention only to let anyone who should read my thinking on craft that I'm not wholly daft; I've been a corporate banker, an advertising account coordinator, a university lecturer, a teacher of English as a second language, a freelance writer of feature articles and a weekly newspaper columnist. Nothing, however, has colored my background so much as having been an expat for the last twenty-five years in China, Japan, The Philippines, India, Qatar, Egypt, Russia and Germany. My novels reflect their influence.
